We haven’t had a Blog update for quite a while. I have been using Facebook to post updates however many of you are not on the Facebook page. If you would like to join the Facebook Page this is the link:

The Riu Palace Aruba turned 9 in July. They hosted a nice poolside part to celebrate their anniversary. All guest were invited.
We are getting close to maintenance time. The Riu has not said if there will be an increase in maintenance or 2017. There is one new policy concerning maintenance. We may not pay by check in person at the Riu any longer. We may pay by credit card in person or mail the check to Miami. The envelope will be enclosed in your maintenance envelope.
Another update-we may not move furniture in the Timeshare units. Housekeeping will now report any furniture that is moved and we will be charged for maintenance to move it back. Moving furniture around is a problem. During the past year a dresser was moved from a living room to a bedroom. The TV on the dresser was placed on a luggage stand. This became a safety issue as anyone can be easily hurt if the TV falls on them. This is a huge safety issue for a child.
Vanessa Fernandez is the Director/GM who replaced Richard. She is a lovely new addition to the Riu. Her husband is Juan-the Director/GM of the Antillas right next door. This is Vanessa:

The entire beach staff is new. The Riu Palace specifically has a huge problem with the beach staff. They brought over the beach manager from the Antillas in an attempt to get the beach in order. Please do not ask a beach staff to save a papalpa or to do anything personally for you other than bring your chairs. The main reason they are fired is saving palapas and doing special favors.
For those who do not know, there is an Urgent Care Center in Aruba about 5 minutes from the hotel. This is such a great option for anyone needing medical care while in Aruba. The web site is:

Riu Palace Aruba Timeshare for Sale by Owner
At the Riu Palace Aruba, members often have timeshare units to resell. The Riu does not sell timeshare however; they maintain the original 35 units of the Royal Palm Club. When you buy a timeshare unit from an owner, the process is a simple transfer.
- Buyer to contact Riu by phone at 011-297-526-3900 to verify the timeshare sale is legitimate from the owner.
- Seller determines who will pay maintenance for upcoming year.
- Buyer will pay a transfer fee to the Riu of $275. These fees are in addition to the sale price of the timeshare unit. These fees are payable by Credit Card Authorization submitted to the Riu.
- Contact Kyle Riley for transfer paperwork. She will email to Buyer & Seller
- Buyer & Seller sign and return with copies of Passports. The Riu requires a copy of passports for each buyer
- Buyer pays owner by certified check-sellers do not accept any other payment method-no brokers, no Pay Pal.
- Upon receipt of payment to seller, paperwork is submitted to the Riu.

Riu Palace Aruba Specials on Friday to Friday Timeshare Rentals
The Newly Renovated, All Inclusive Hotel Riu Palace Aruba, has a timeshare community of 35 units. Timeshare rentals offer the most affordable way to vacation in Aruba. The Timeshare units at the Riu Palace Aruba are often available for rent through members. Occupancy is Friday to Friday. While the Riu Palace Aruba does not rent or sell timeshare unit, they maintain the 35 original units. Please contact a member if you are interested in renting their available week.
A one bedroom sleeps 4 with a private bedroom and queen sleeper sofa in the living room. A two bedroom sleeps 6 with two private bedrooms and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. All timeshare units have a kitchen and dining/eat in area. 5th floor one bedroom units have two baths. 1st and 3rd one bedroom units have 1 bath. All two bedroom units have two bath with the exception of 546/548 which has 3 baths.
Rentals:
Renter may contact the Riu in Aruba by phone at 011-297-526-3900 and ask for Timeshare to verify the rental is legitimate
Owner prepares a Rental Agreement
Renter and Owner Sign Rental Agreement
Renter pays for rental in full by Certified Bank Check
Upon receipt of payment, owner completes a Member Guest Form and sends a copy to the Riu and to the renter.

IMPORTANT MAINTENANCE UPDATE
Hi All,
As Maintenance Season approaches, here are some updates for everyone.
The Maintenance Fees for 2017 will remain the same. This should make us all happy.
$690 for a one bedroom
$915 for a two bedroom
- Maintenance Invoices will be mailed by September 15th. I am assuming address changes are up to date.
- This year checks will be made payable to another new name: A.H.E. RESORTS & HOLDING. Please make note of this as they will not accept checks made out in any other name.
- Starting this year the Riu will not accept payments by check at the hotel. They will accept credit cards but no checks. Last year several checks were lost or misplaced. The Riu is not set up for this type of payment.
- A pre-addressed envelope will be included with your maintenance Invoice. Do not mail payments to Aruba.
- Please do not mail any type of paperwork to Miami. The bank in Miami is a Banking Deposit Service only. They discard all paperwork. Please do not mail with a signature required.
- On your Invoice there are 2 numbers to write on the memo line of your check-THE INVOICE NUMBER or the NUMBER BEHIND THE C: The number behind the C: is your customer number.
- If you are paying with a check that is not in your PERSONAL NAME-you must write your PERSONAL NAME ON THE MEMO LINE.
- Please mail your payment by check before November 15th to assure it is received and posted on time. The earlier you mail your payment-the better.
- If you send your credit card form to the Riu, please ask Karina to verify she has received and processed. More often than not their Fax machine does not work.
- If you need me to fill out your credit card form, please call or email me in advance. My goal this year is to not have a list of members to call for payments.
- Please plan to verify with your bank or Credit Card Company that your payment has cleared or posted. A few hundred of you know the importance of checking on this.
- As a reminder Trades & Accelerations may only be paid for by Credit Card. Checks may no longer be sent to Miami for Trades & Accelerations.

Karina’s Vacation Schedule-IMPORTANT INFORMATION TRADES, ACCELERATIONS & MAINTENANCE
Karina will be on vacation from October 1-21. Her sister Madelyn will work timeshare during this time. Madelyn will provide general timeshare assistance to timeshare members. She will not do Trades, Accelerations, etc…
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
As of September 22, 2016, Karina will not accept any more trades or accelerations for 2016. Trades & Accelerations will be closed for 2016 on September 22nd. There are very few weeks with availability left so if you need a Trade or Acceleration, please send it in right away. At this late date, please send your credit card payment with the Trade or Acceleration. Remember an Acceleration fee is one week of maintenance ($690 or $915) plus $50 plus $25 admin fee. A Trade Fee is $50 + $25 admin fee.
Just a reminder-Trades & Accelerations may only be paid by Credit Card. Payments may not be sent to Miami.
On September 1st Karina will begin approving Trades and Accelerations for January only. This will be Weeks 1-4 at this time. She will enforce the 10 day payment rule. Once she sends you the confirmation you must pay by credit card within 10 days or the request will be cancelled and she will give the unit to the next member on her list. When she returns from vacation she will begin confirming more Trades & Accelerations.
More Important-Karina is not allowed to process a Trade or Acceleration until 2017 maintenance fees are paid in full. Please plan to mail your maintenance payment in right away or pay by credit card with your trade or acceleration payment. All payments may go on one form and you only pay the $25 fee one time. This applies to all 2017 Trades & Accelerations approved between September 1st and November 30th. During these dates, once you receive the confirmation from Karina for a Trade or Acceleration for 2017, you have 10 days to pay maintenance and the Trade or Acceleration Fee or your request will be canceled. Please do not mail Trade or Accelerations payments to Miami-credit card only.
To eliminate any confusion the policy has not changed. During the months of maintenance this has always been in effect. We may not have seen or heard this but it is the policy. If 2017 maintenance is not paid in full the Riu will not allow a Trade or Acceleration to be approved. This makes good sense but may be a little confusing.
